5 unabridged dark tales from Stephen King
Each story read by a different reader
"Everything's Eventual"- I liked this. The narrator is kooky and the unique, strange situation pulls you in.
"Autopsy Room Four"- I remember this from the tv series Nightmares & Dreamscapes, so I already knew how it was going to turn out at the end. Still, it was an absolutely terrifying situation. Guy finds himself on an autopsy table, about to be cut open... except he's not dead and the docs don't realize it!
"The Little Sisters of Eluria"- I must admit, I listened to one of the discs of this story and then gave up completely on it and skipped to the next story. I couldn't get interested in it and couldn't follow it. I haven't read King's Dark Tower series and if I had, I'm sure I would have had a better idea about what was going on. I'm sure it was supposed to be a standalone, but I was totally confused and not interested.
"Lucky Quarter"- I really liked this. Interesting twist on the lucky coin tale and interesting characters. You really want a happy ending here.
"The Road Virus Heads North"- I remember this one from the tv show, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, too. I liked it more in story format, though, because the suspense was very well written. (And I had the images from the show- like the painting itself- already in my head). This was a chilling one to end with!
In all, it was an enjoyable collection, good for a few hours of entertainment in King's style.
