Kyle's Bed & Breakfast: A Second Bowl of Serial
by Greg Fox
I started reading the online strip for Kyle's B&B quite a few years ago, and I bought the first volume of the book when it was available the first time around. However, there was a gap of about 10-20 comic strips between when the last book ended and when I started reading. So for YEARS there has been this empty place in my Kyle's B&B knowledge. It was a delight to buy this book and finally get that gap filled in. I enjoyed meeting Breyer for the first time (awwww) and so sad to read the reveal of Jeff's HIV status. There were so many little moments I'd missed that I could experience for the first time and a hundred more I got to relive as I re-read the strips. My favorite moments were definitely the Nick & Dave ones; I do love those geeky boys so much.
This volume felt shorter to me than volume 1, and I was thrilled to see that volume 3 will be coming soon entirely in color!
I also absolutely adored the brand new strips at the end of the book with the story arc revolving around Breyer and Brad, who are not BFFs by any means. Given the various themes in this volume, that strip was perfect and made me tear up a little. What a beautiful arc to end with.
