So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year of Passionate Reading
by Sara Nelson

I finally got around to reading this book (it's been on Mt. TBR for years now. I enjoyed the structure of a memoir revolving around books--that was clever and I wish very much I had thought of it first! The whole way through, I kept thinking I should try writing something similar, but my choices of books to read are quite different from Ms. Nelson's. She is far more literary than I am. Still, it was great fun reading about her thoughts on books and the little insights or goings on in her life related to reading. She would talk about vacations and choosing books to bring along. She confessed to having books she has been meaning to read and hasn't. These are things I can relate to in spades.
Her way of talking about books was beautiful as well, even if I didn't agree with her on all counts all the time. And even though I hadn't read most of the books she discussed and read during her year, I enjoyed reading her appreciation of them. It definitely made me think a lot about the sorts of books I choose, why I enjoy what I do, and how I would want to structure the memoir-like piece I've been toying with writing for a while.
In all, a fine read. It didn't awe me the way I'd hoped--I didn't rush over to read more of it or carry it around with me everywhere--but I did enjoy it when I was reading it and I was happy for the opportunity to do so.
