Underground Train
by Mary Quattlebaum
I ran into this book at the library last Saturday as one of the books that came in through the bookdrop. As Mary was the speaker at the BookCrossing convention in 2011, I took a few minutes to read through this book.
It's neat to see that since 1997 the Metro hasn't changed all that much. The familiar seats and sounds and sights of the underground subway system here where I live is portrayed beautifully for kids in this book (especially the sounds!). The route is illustrated and it's one kids could actually take with their parents to follow along. It was great to see some familiar DC landmarks as well (though there are no longer monkeys on monkey island at the National Zoo).
This was a cute, fun book that would be especially fun for someone living in the D.C. Metro area.
