I must start out by saying that I didn't read this book because I'm a fan of Mindy's. I've never seen her in The Office (I've only seen a couple episodes of the US version of the show). My sister tells me she has her own show now; I've never seen that either. In fact, I hadn't even heard of Mindy before picking up this book. I don't read a lot of memoirs either. But I came across this book while I was volunteering at the library and the picture on the back cover reminded me of my sister when she was that age. The caption beneath the photo made me laugh out loud.

The rest of the book had me chuckling in places and laughing so hard in other places that I was shaking and in tears. Not a book to read in a quiet waiting room, that's for sure. The book was light and fun to read. The book covers everything from her childhood to her career in the humor industry to lists of observational humor. Her style of humor is definitely easy to "get" and fall in love with. It's that which carries you through the book. There were a few moments in there where I wished I'd seen more of The Office, so I could get more out of it. But even without that frame of reference, I loved the book--everything from dorky childhood friends to how men take SUCH a long time to put on their shoes (they DO, don't they?).

I highly recommend this book if you need a laugh or want to get an "insider's' perspective in the entertainment/humor industry.
