One of my public libraries does an adult summer reading program every year, to encourage adults to read more. I turned in my log last weekend and got my $5 off coupon for the library's used book sale. A great deal, and all I had to do was read ten books. I only put down YA books and adult books, feeling it wasn't fair to count kids books. The librarians put together a list of the most popular books and have a display of those books available at the library. There's also an after party for everyone who participates. I've never attended the party before, but I think I might try to make it this year.

After I turned it in, the librarian asked me if I wasnted another sheet. As I had only two weeks left, I told her I wouldn't be able to get ten more books read in time. Today I saw a woman turn two sheets in--so she's a much faster reader than I am. But even she said she wouldn't be able to get ten more read in the next week! LOL

I really enjoy writing lists and it's such a fun throwback to my childhood to participate in a summer reading program. I don't know why more libraries don't do this for adults each summer.
