The Fight for Truth (Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice, Book 9)
by Jude Watson

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon head offworld to a planet that has just about cut itself off from the galaxy. They're there to evaluate a little baby who may be force-sensitive. But the controllers of the planet aren't happy the Jedi are there. Suddenly, the baby goes missing.

They're there with another Master & Padawan duo. The Padawan, Siri, is not Obi-Wan's favorite; she is rash and headstrong, not one who works well with others. So when his master sends the two of them out together to investigate the world, Obi-Wan is sure it won't go well.

The result is an interesting dystopian society where everything is strictly controlled, including the misinformation the children in the learning circle are brainwashed to believe. And then comes the re-learning circle... which is much worse than it sounds.

It was great to finally meet Siri; I've read about her in a number of fanfics. And I liked to see Obi-Wan here, taking charge, growing, learning. But I am starting to get tired of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan going off and doing their own things to further the plot in different ways. I like that Qui trusts his padawan to see things and do things Qui can't. But I like them best when they're together as a team. Hoping for more of that in books to come!
