The Call to Vengeance (Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice 16)
by Jude Watson
Possibly my least favorite book so far in the series. Consumed by grief over Tahl's death, Qui-Gon goes crazy-rogue and throws away all knowledge and abilities he has gained by being a Jedi. All he can think about is revenge, which is not at all a Jedi trait, in case you were wondering. Bant, her apprentice, arrives with Mace Windu to assess the situation and deal with what happened. Bant is angry with them for not contacting her when her master was in trouble. Obi-Wan is sad about Tahl's death, hurt that Bant is angry with him, and distraught that his master is who knows where doing who knows what without him. Poor Obi-Wan. Still, Obi-Wan does what he can to mend the burning bridges and help Qui-Gon out, short of taking his master by the shoulders and
I liked Bant and Obi-Wan finally dealing and being friends again, working together. But the best part of the book was that this Tahl story arc is finally over. I look forward to getting back to my Jedi the way they're supposed to be. Though I expect it will take more time for Qui-Gon.
