Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale
by Mo Willems
I love Mo's Elephant and Piggie books, and I'd always wanted to read this book. So I got it out of the library for a picture book swap I was in for swap-bot. It wasn't what I'd expected. Mo's clever dialogue was not present. However, the story was adorable and sweet and clever in its own way. I had special stuffed animals when I was young, so I immediately related to little Trixie here.
She and her daddy take a trip to the neighborhood laundromat and come home... without her knuffle bunny. Oh no! It turns out that this is a common plot in all three knuffle bunny books (I didn't even know there was more than one). Trixie, who can't yet speak, tries her best to get her parents to understand the problem.
The story is told through words as well as pictures. There are black and white photographs with color illustrations on top of them. In a few places, the illustrations seemed a bit angled and harsh. But once I got used to the art, I fell in love with it.
