OMG So jokes!
Nov. 8th, 2009 09:57 pmA lot of amazing things happened this weekend. At Wrockstock, the Mudbloods are playing their last performance *cries*. At FaerieCon, I learned a lot of great stuff, talked with Charles Vess and Charles de Lint and J. Corsentino (and I bought SO many good things I'm excited about). But the very best thing that happened to me this weekend (and perhaps the whole month in fact) is what I found at the Book Thing this morning.
I woke up super early and got to the Book Thing a few minutes after 9 (I would have been there exactly at 9 but I passed a marker along the way that I had to stop and snarf for markeroni). I checked out the kids books first, as usual (I'm still in You're Such an Animal mode, I discovered). Anyway, what I found in the kids bins was this:

Yes, that's right. An advance reader copy of the book my new favorite author & another author whose book I read a few months ago wrote together. I actually added it to my amazon.com wish list a month or so ago and it's not due out until April. But now I have it in my hands a whole FIVE MONTHS ahead of time!
When I saw it, I wasn't sure what I was looking at at first. But I recognized the cover at once because I've looked at it online a bunch of times. I grabbed it and hugged it to my chest and screamed/squealed/squeed out loud. The woman I'd talked to earlier was probably a bit startled/disturbed. but I explained that it was my favorite author's book that hadn't come out yet. And she was happy for me. But, seriously, SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE! It's like it was waiting there just for me to find it.
I can't even put into words how amazing it is to find your favorite author's book MONTHS before it hits stores. And for free, no less! I can't even put that into words. I'm floored. And thrilled. And speechless. This is so jokes.
