Summer Reading Program
Jul. 10th, 2010 01:54 pmDid you ever participate in the summer reading program at your local library when you were a kid? You'd read a certain number of books during the summer and get a prize and certificate at the end. Well, I am officially participating in the Adult Summer Reading Program at one of my local libraries. All you have to do is read 10 books and you get a $5 coupon toward buying books at the book sale (So you read 10 books and then you can buy 10 paperbacks for free. How awesome is THAT deal?). And you can read as many books as you want for as many coupons as you want. Um, I'm kind of excited *G* Free books FTW!
Only books I've read between June 1 and September 7 count, but already I've got 7 out of 10 and 6 books in progress right now.
On an only slightly off topic note... I ended up volunteering for 4.5 hours straight this morning. The library was SWAMPED and I was the only volunteer there. The picklist is usually 3-4 pages long; today it was 7. And they were so backed up they ran out of room to put books. Man. This fiscal year really started with a bang for them!
