I don't usually participate in reading challenges. Last year, I set a goal of only 100 books on Goodreads, my first actual reading challenge in years. I juuuuuust made the goal, even though I'm a little behind on book reviews still. And, sure, a third of the books were picture books. But even an adult can enjoy and learn from picture books every once in a while. And I did read a few large adult books (Game of Thrones, Under the Dome) to balance those out in the end. I enjoyed having a goal to work toward that wasn't too challenging.

So this year I thought I'd try for another 100 on Goodreads. https://www.goodreads.com/user_challenges/6958645

I also thought I'd try this awesome challenge, suggested to me by [personal profile] melydia: http://www.popsugar.com/love/Reading-Challenge-2017-42561300
To make it even more challenging, I decided to do a few things:
1. Upon finishing a book, write it by hand beside the topic it fits into in pen so it can't be changed
2. Count one book as only one topic, even if it fits into a bunch of different ones
3. Go for all 50 right from the start!
That's going to mean making some tough choices. But it looks like a fun list. I look forward to finding books that will work for this list. I'll tag each book when I write a review here with popsugarreadingchallenge! So far, I've got 6/50. Long way to go yet!

Pop Sugar Reading Challenge: A book with a title that's a character's name
(okay, I read this to mean a book with the character's name in the title... which might be a little off in interpretation, but it's already down in pen, so I'm stuck counting it as such)

Pop Sugar Reading Challenge: A book set in a hotel
(There were a lot of other settings, apart from the hotel, but as most of that were flashbacks, diary entries, trial transcripts, etc. I'm counting this for hotel)
