These are the further adventures of the little boy and girl with colored crayons that let them draw anything they require. I especially love how the little girl wears her crayons like an amunition sash. The boy's bird is there as well, so I loved seeing some of the familiar imagery from the first book. This book takes place exactly where the previous one leaves off--which is great, but I could have used a quick review/recap because it's been quite some time since I read the first.

I'm a fan of quest stories more than almost any other, so this one was a fun read. This is a story done all in images--stuning, vivid, beautiful images. It's set in a fantasy world, and the adventure kicks off when a king is kidnapped. There are lots of fun elements, and some jumps from page to page I wish I'd had a child with me to explain & help fill in the story gaps for me! In the end, of course, they rescue the king. And the end leaves things open for another story.
