Plants Vs. Zombies: Timepocalypse
by Paul Tobin & Ron Chan
I found this in the book drop at the library yesterday and just had to take it home and read it. I enjoy playing the game online, but had no idea there were comics! This was an incredibly silly story. I loved that. One of the zombies manages to create a machine that will take away the sun, killing the plants. Unfortunately, another zombie accidentally stuffs some Pop Smarts (zombie version of Pop Tarts) into the machine, sending pieces of it throughout space and time. The two main character kids and their uncle, Crazy Dave (one of my favorite parts of the game), venture to the 1970s, the Jurassic era, the future, and even ancient Egypt to recover pieces. I loved seeing the plants vs. zombies battle showing itself with GIANT PLANTS in Jurassic era and pirate plants vs. pirate zombies vs. actual pirates.
The story was full of humor and adventure. I laughed a lot. The whole thing was just super silly, which is expected given the silly idea of this game in general. But I loved all the creative uses of the different plants and the great art that brought it all to life. I fully enjoyed this adventure and will totally look up more of these comic collections some time. Hilarious.
