Ultimate Spider-Man #9: Ultimate Six
by Brian Michael Bendis & others
Okay, so, this Agent Carter is kind of a stupidhead. She lets the Sandman out of the Hammer building where he'd been kept. And even though S.H.I.E.L.D. is trying to hold many of the worst, genetically modified baddies, they invariably manipulate and escape. Bad guy rehab is a great idea, but goes terribly wrong with these guys, especially when one is Norman and is obsessed with Peter Parker. Peter freaks out a bit, worrying about his aunt and girlfriend, which is understandable. Because one of these guys on his own is bad enough, but 5 all together, blackmailing Spider-Man to join them, is an almost unstoppable force. Well, possibly not unstoppable, but Captain America is pissed at S.H.I.E.L.D. for anything that has to do with the experiment that made him a super soldier and Wasp is concerned about her husband who was injured in the breakout. I adore all these realistic complications, especially when Aunt May gives S.H.I.E.L.D. agents hell until she can see Peter. Stuff gets real, and it even goes as far as the president of the US. Luckily, our friendly neighborhood spider-man manages to come out on top. But something tells me that after this, things are only going to get more complicated for poor Peter.
