I really enjoyed this book. I have mixed feelings about it being abridged; I thought it read really well and contained everything I needed/wanted. However, it was so enjoyable I could have handled a little more, I think.

I loved that Cesar read it; he's such a figure head/celebrity and it would have been strange hearing these things coming from someone other than him. I also really liked the glimpses into Cesar's personal life--how he got to where he is now, what his pack is like, what his daily routine it.

I don't have my own dog, but I do live with a dog (my family's dog) and I know for sure that Simon does not see me as pack leader. This book helped me understand my role in his life better and understand how his mind works. Dogs are not fuzzy little children; they are complicated beings who need different things from us than we sometimes give them. If I came away with anything, it was that we do things a bit wrong in my household and instead of yelling when the dog doesn't do what he should, I should be calm assertive and show him/lead him to what he should be doing.
