The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
by Stieg Larsson
(Audio)
While I'm glad that these three books are written, I'm sad that's all we'll get of these characters from Larsson.
Lisbeth is such an enigma through the first two books. In fact, she continues to be in this one, even though we find out even MORE about her and the many layers of plot and conspiracy that makes up this book. I love that time and time again, she's required to give away secrets about herself and to trust people she would have been unlikely to trust before. Mikeal's sister is a fantastic character in this book and fights hard, even though she's in way over her head.
I was also really drawn into Berger's story. I liked her (even though I'm a total Lisbeth/Mikeal shipper), but she really came into her own in this one when she leaves Millenium. That was sad, but I was really impressed with her decision to improve her career. It also brought in a lot more factors and moral decisions, which were fun. And when she kept getting threatened, I genuinely felt scared for her!
I liked the way the plot unraveled and the many layers and details we get. But I missed the intense mystery and action from the first two books. There is mystery and action, don't get me wrong. It's just done in different amounts and in different ways.
In all, I loved the book and was sad to see the series end! I highly recommend all three books.
