Ernie: A Photographer's Memoir
by Tony Mendoza
This was an adorable memoir! It alternates between narration from Ernie, a ferocious and playful cat living in a Manhattan apartment, and Tony, a photographer who is moving into the apartment. An arrangement is struck up between the two, resulting in postcards, magazine covers, photos hanging in museums, and this very book! The book went out of print, sadly, but popular demand brought it back. I'm so glad it did. It was a pleasure to learn about Ernie (both from his pov and from the pov of a human photographer). And it was even better to see Ernie in action. Ernie really is a character ;-)
This is a beautiful, artistic book, but also an adorable one filled with endearing moments any cat owner will get a kick out of and relate to. My favorite photos were of him chewing the box, chewing the corner of the magazine cover, hiding in a suitcase, and snuggling his elephant.
