Another Monster at the End of This Book (Sesame Street)
by Jon Stone
This review contains massive spoilers and potentially terrifying monsters! Not for the faint of heart! Consider yourself warned...
I grew up reading A Monster at the End of this Book probably once or twice a week. So when I was at a baby shower and a copy of Another Monster at the End of This Book turned up, I was shocked. I borrowed it and gave it a read immediately.
It's a thrilling tale, I'm not going to lie. We find out at the beginning that there is a monster at the end of the book. Well, Grover and I had already been through this before and we knew better than to let the book continue. I'm sorry, but when there's a certainty of a MONSTER at the end of a book, you don't keep turning the page! But silly Elmo didn't believe us. He keeps on insisting that it'll be fine and we should keep reading.
Grover pulls out all the stops, building walls and trying to argue on the most logic basis of self-preservation. Elmo plows forward like the reckless devil on your shoulder. He's a bad influence that Elmo.
The end gets nearer and nearer with every single page turn until, finally, you get to the end and... it's Elmo! He is the monster at the end.
All right, I guess I felt a little foolish. I should have seen that coming ;-) But it really COULD have been a dangerous monster.
Right?
heehee A wonderful sequel with the same feel and magic as the original.
