The Camel Club

I earread the second book in the Camel Club series a while back, so I figured I really should try the first one to get a proper look at the series. I love books set near where I live, and this one was very enjoyable.
It was much more a character study of Camel Club members, and Oliver Stone in particular. It was fascinating really getting to know them all. And the mystery was actually quite good as well. It takes a lot to make a terrorist plot to kidnap the president plausible in my eyes, and this definitely worked for me. There were lots of different groups of characters we jump around to, and it's a great payoff when the conspiracy rises and then the plot plays out, bringing them all together (whether they like it or not). What starts out as a simple little mysterious thriller about a dead body on Roosevelt Island becomes not only much bigger, but quite personal.
I definitely look forward to reading other Camel Club books, and now I can resume the series in order :-)
