The Hugo Movie Companion: A Behind the Scenes Look at How a Beloved Book Became a Major Motion Picture
by Brian Selznick et. al.

A book about a movie based on a book about movies. Whoa.

A lot of books jump into my hands when I'm volunteering at Kings Park. I saw this one on the "New" kids' shelf and stole it for my own! I'd just finished reading the book and seeing the movie, so I was excited to read this.

It was a fantastic look at the movie! There were essays from so many different people who worked on it--the writer of the original book, actors, the director, the art designer, etc. But there were also ones from the executive producer, cameraman, prop master, set designer, costumer, make-up artist, etc. So many different aspects that all came together to make a beautiful movie. It was really neat to hear the details of their jobs and the unique experiences they had with Hugo.

I loved that movie! So many threads coming together. Being based on the real deal made it all the better.
