Look for Me by Moonlight

I grabbed this off the Crystal City OBCZ shelves because Mary Downing Hahn is one of my favorite authors (and she's local, to boot!).
This starts out as your typical teenage angst story with a girl who goes to live with her father and step-family in an inn. A mysterious guest arrives one day and he captures main character Cynda's attention. The title of the book comes from one of my favorite poems: The Highwayman. And you might have guessed the parallel in the story: the handsome man in love with the landlord's daughter.
However, that's where the parallels stop. Because in comes a supernatural element to the story--and more than just the ghost of a girl who apparently died out on the cliffs years ago.
This was a quick read (even for me) and really rather spooky as well. At times I couldn't figure out how the main character was going to get free from this situation she found herself in. And the dynamics among all the characters are interesting--the bratty younger brother she doesn't want, the pregnant stepmother she hasn't warmed up to, the local boy & budding artist, the studious and somewhat oblivious father, the mysterious stranger, and normal teenage girl who wants much more than life has given her.
Not my favorite MDH book, but the bar was set high :-) I certainly enjoyed reading it!
