Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, Vol. 1: The World According to Peter Parker
by Brian Michael Bendis and David Lafuente
I read this series So out of order, so it was hard to go from his death to the very first story :-)
Poor Peter. School, girlfriend, part-time job, and trying to save people--it's a lot for anybody to deal with! Peter does a good job juggling everything (most of the time). But people seem to have trouble with mutants and the city is coping with some horrible recent event that caused death and destruction.
I enjoyed finally seeing Bobby and Johnny moving in. Johnny shows up half-dead and exhausted, collapsing before he can even get in the door. Awwwww :-) Aunt May convinced him to call Sue, who shows up and then leaves, because Johnny needs to stay with Peter now that the Fantastic Four has fallen apart. He needs a bit of normalcy. And then there's Iceman. Bobby tries hanging out in Kitty's basement, but her mother is not well pleased, so he ends up staying with Kitty's friend, Peter *G*
Between the heroes and the villains starting out, this volume does a great job of setting the tone, themes, and obstacles for the series!
