The Shattered Peace (Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice, Book 10)
by Jude Watson
Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are sent in to try to preserve the piece between two worlds that had been at war for centuries. The peace between the two were preserved because of an exchange of children between the ruling families; no world would attack another when one's child could be killed in the ensuing battle. But now one of the children wants to stay on the other planet instead of returning home to rule, and his father is none too pleased with the arrangement. (As they say on the lifetime channel: he wants his baby back).
I liked the differences between the two worlds/societies. And I really liked how Obi-Wan's opinion of the situation kept changing. It was hard to figure out a solution that would work for all and keep the two from going to war. A nice little mystery that kept me guessing, even though I felt a little cheated as not all the clues were revealed as the Jedi found them. It's easy to forget in these books that Obi really is still learning and starting out. He doesn't have the wisdom I'm used to him having (not yet, at least) and has to rely on his master for that.
