Allergies

From the description on Amazon, this book seemed so right up my alley that I immediately bought it. As soon as I got it home, I ended up starting to read it while standing in my kitchen, waiting for rice to cook. heehee
This was definitely a guilty pleasure book. There were only a few small grammar errors that caught my attention while reading. And, in general, I thought the writing wasn't as good as it could have been (there's a whole lot of repetition and issues are brought up then put off until the sequel). The two main characters stumble upon each other and are so immediately drawn to each other that they can barely resist fucking right there at work. It was pretty hard to believe... but it was hot enough that I also kind of didn't even care.
Ray is a somewhat geeky graphic designer and artist. Lou is hunky tech support. He's also a lycan. And his full name is Lupine Canis, but he hides his lycan self from everyone because not everyone's ready to believe in werewolves or shifters... though it should be fairly obvious and Lou is TERRIBLE at hiding his secret. He shifts when he's sleeping with Ray in a post-coitis daze and scares Ray half to death. He keeps using terms like "pack" instead of "family." And all members of his whole pack have terrible canine names like Rover and Spot. *eye roll* But it's still all kind of wonderful. The two have such a strong attraction to each other and the descriptions of their relations are quick, hot, and heavy. They push all my biggest buttons, so it was definitely a good read for me.
It turns out that Ray is allergic to Lou, which creates some complications, of course. But they don't let that stop them. What does stop them is Ray finally (finally) finding out that Lou is a lycan. It's a tough family to suddenly become a paart of, what with alphas and sets of twins and pack dynamics and some new, human enemies unexpectedly arriving on the scene along with some unauthorized lycans. Ray has to decide what to do--stay with Lou or not. There are lots of things that point to "no," but all you have to do is see them kiss and touch to realize that things are going to end well for these two. This is a book that's too focused on how good the two are together to end any way other than happy. But it's fun going along for the ride, watching Lou's protective side and dominant side (for the "runt" of the litter, he sure can have a commanding presence in bed). And we also see how much love he has for Ray--not just animal attraction. And Ray's crazy about him and thinks he could easily be falling in love as well. It's a silly situation and a strange universe, but it's a whole lot of fun to read.
