Little Panda
by Renata Liwska
I saw this book on the shelf at the library during a volunteer shift and gave it a read. The book has a grandfather panda telling his grandson a story about a flying tiger. The grandson is fairly certain there's no such thing, but he respects his grandfather and listens to the story.
In the story, a little panda named Bao Bao is separated from his mother and encounters a dangerous tiger. I was interested in the book because the artwork is lovely, and because a few days before, the brand new baby panda at the National Zoo here in D.C. was 100 days old and received a name: Bao Bao! Okay, maybe it's a popular panda name (I see online that there have been other pandas by that name), but this was a great coincidence, timing-wise.
The story really does contain a flying tiger, and a tiny little visual twist at the ending that was quite pleasing. This was really sweet and beautiful. I enjoyed reading it!
