Dr. Horrible and Other Horrible Stories
by Zack Whedon
This was one of my graphic novel purchases when Borders was going out of business, and I finally got around to it now. Definitely worth the wait! I'd read one, possibly two of these stories before when they were published as comics. The stories are diverse and interesting, each with its own plot and different artist, but written by Zach Whedon so there are common threads and even running jokes. Collected together, they're a lot of fun, and the introduction really had me cracking up.
My favorite story was probably Dr. Horrible's origin story, seeing how Billy turned from a clever little boy to a candidate for the Evil League of Evil. But there were also stories about Moist's origin, kind and generous Penny on her birthday, Captain Hammer's guide to being a good hero, and the activities of the ELE when the superheroes go off on their annual retreat (Fake Thomas Jefferson was especially hilarious, as he keeps thinking he's the real Thomas Jefferson).
There's not a lot else I can really say except that I loved this. It was a short but fun read that expanded the Dr. Horrible universe a little more. I'm so glad I purchased it!
