A Perfect Day
by Remy Charlip
At last year's AWP Conference, I attended a tribute to Remy Charlip, and realized that I'd been read several of his books when I was a kid. I even have at least one on my BookCrossing shelf. I came across this book of his at the library today and took a few minutes to read it.
What a pleasure! It's a very short book about the way a father and son spend a day together--playing, taking a walk, eating, reading (of course) from the moment the sun rises to the time it sets. It's charming and full of soft illustrations for gentle, sweet moments. The whole story is told in rhyming verse that is beautiful and seems effortless, like that's the way we all talk.
This was a fun, heartwarming read.
