Breaking Dawn

First off, I have to say that the author's personal views on certain subjects comes through loud and clear in this book. I can't say I agree with all of them, so parts were a bit of a turnoff and felt like she was trying to teach us all a lesson.
That aside, I did enjoy this book in parts. It followed the same general pattern of the other books: setup, character development, nothing happens, more character development, something small happens, suddenly HUGE CONFRONTATION COMES OUT OF NOWHERE, but it's solved somewhat quickly with the use of a little force and a lot of brain power, happy ending follows. I had really hoped that Meyer would learn by now how to build things up a little better. But this was still the best plot of the lot, once the plot finally got around to showing up. I think she missed out on a lot of opportunity to be creative with all the different vampire powers throughout the series but gets full marks for so many creative vampire characters.
I liked what the characters went through in this book. Bella is far less complainy but it helps that Jacob took over narrating for a good long while. He's got his faults, sure, but I really like that boy. A lot. Grrr. *EG* Anyway, the characters went through a lot of changes- some amazingly dramatic and some rather silly. But all were believable in the Twilight universe and all ended up being for the good in the end. I even kinda liked Remesmee even though, OMG, worst name in the world, poor thing. At least she gets a whole coven who'll fight to the death for her and the love of a wolfboy as consolation prizes. Lucky girl.
And, of course, who doesn't love a happy ending? I'm glad I read this series because I really do enjoy reading about the characters. I just wish the stories were a little less angsty and a little more exciting and developed. And I wish the writing and stories were a whole lot better. But, hey, I probably shouldn't throw stones. Cheers to the Twilight universe *raises glass*
