There's a yaoi bookbox coming my way soon, so I wanted to make a point of moving some books off Mt. TBR. This was one of them. I read this book two days after I got my gallbladder out and needed something happy to distract me. I started reading this book years ago but I didn't finish it then. So I started it over this time.
I really do love me some yaoi hurt/comfort. In the main story, gangster Kazuma is wounded and is found by young Yukihiro, an illegitimate son at a tea house. Their worlds are vastly different, but their attraction is strong and clear, though they try to deny it. And they actually have a few things in common. I love that the volume had a few other stories in it bit cycled back around to these two at the end for a happy ending for these two gents.
The short story, "At First Sight" had some great student passion. I really liked it. The other short story, "Cry for the Sun" was harder for me to like, because the main character magically blocked out memories of a man who A-had been his now late father's lover B-now is someone he is attracted to and C-tried to strangle him in angle years ago as a child. Yikes! that's where I draw the line, I'm afraid. I don't like characters who are attracted to people who tried to kill them in the past. Not my flavor of romance, even if there is a lot of yummy angst to be had.
On a whole, though, a great collection of stories. I really adore this cover.
