katekintailbc: (Bookworm Remus)
I didn't get all that many books for Christmas this year--it's just as well, really, considering my Mountain Range To Be Read is gigantic. But I did get a few books because, well, it's me. Of course I'm going to get books as gifts ;-)

I got two vegetarian cookbooks, which was very thoughtful because I am sort of vegetarian (I'd prefer to be vegan but with my current health issues, I don't get a choice at the moment). Unfortunately, I cannot cook, and right now I can't eat much of anything. So... I probably won't be using these any time soon.

Two are strange humor books that are set up to read like real technical papers. Which seems funny and clever and maybe too weird for me with all the footnotes and such. I'll definitely give them a try, though.

One's a writing book that looks interesting but maybe too touchy-feely for me? I'll definitely give it a try and I'm sure I'll learn something from it.

Doctor Who: The Vault seems like a fantastic compilation of images and stories from the past fifty years of Doctor Who. I skimmed through it for about half an hour last night and really enjoyed what I read. A great read and a great reference as well. I can't wait to find some time to really dive in and read it all thoroughly.

The Roads Not Taken is one I'm super excited about. A Supernatural Choose Your Own Adventure book? How can I possibly have lived without that in my life? Also, this one's got a fun little story for me. The day after I put this on my Amazon.com wishlist, I was at work moving our old Career Advice articles from our old site onto our new one, and I came accross an author's URL in his bio at the end of an article he wrote for us. I don't usually check, but I just happened to click the link to see if it was active. It redirected to the author's new website and guess what the first book at the top of the site was? Yep, this one! So this book definitely was meant to be mine. Yay!

Looks like I've got an interesting variety of reading to do this upcoming year! Welcome to Mt. TBR, new books!
