Serenity: Leaves on the Wind
by Zack Whedon
I read the first two comics in this in comic form, but then I missed a couple weeks and, knowing I was going to buy this anyway, I just waited for the hardcover collection to come out. So I was glad when it did (I preordered it) so I could find out how the story ended!
I'm always happy for another trip into the 'verse with these characters. This story brings back some characters from the series and the movie and ties up a few loose ends, answering some unanswered questions. I actually read a fanfic that reminded me SO MUCH of the beginning of this story with Zoe. I love Mama!Zoe and, more than anything, I love how this crew bands together to accomplish the impossible, time and time again, even when they're split up. It's actually such a neat dynamic that they're there because they want to be, not because they have to be. And even when they're on their own, there's a special bond that can't be broken or denied, even though they would NEVER admit that. So this was a great adventure, working off that theme. It was wonderful to see the story play out the way it did, executed with the same style as the rest of the series.
It's an excellent continuation and, I hope, not the last time we'll see them.
