Impact: Buckin' Bull Riders book 1

The endnotes of Hiding in Plain Sight mention this book and a BDSM award it recceived. I looked up the free sample and read the first chapter and a half. I am not the biggest fan of all things Texas or of bull riding for that matter (says the vegetarian & sometimes vegan). So I figured it wouldn't be something I'd like. But the beginning included an element I love (a Dom standing up for a sub that's being abused). I put down the free sample and managed to talk myself out of buying it. For, like, an hour. I couldn't stop thinking about the characters, though, in a way I couldn't expect. So, there I was, buying it. And reading it in 2 days (which, for me, is FAST). It also inspired me to try to write a little of my own.
This is the story of professional bull rider (and Dom) Conner Raub and paper pusher at the riding tour (and brand new sub) Jessica Talbot. Jessica has had a thing for Conner since she joined the tour, but it isn't until she sees him at a BDSM club one night that she realizes how right they are for each other. She asks him to show him the ways of the lifestyle, and he is instantly attracted to her. But having a BDSM relationship with someone in a conservative environment is difficult--it reminded me a lot of the many LGBT books I've read where characters are scared to come out, so the similar hidden sexuality aspect was enjoyable for me. The dynamic between the two of them was wonderful as well, even as they try to get close to a full BDSM lifestyle and then have to back away from it again.
I really enjoyed this story. There were certainly parts that are not my dynamic, but I like how it worked for the characters. And, of course, I was happy to see them get their happy ending. I loved both Jessie girl and Conner by the end of the book, and it was a satisfying (and hot) ending.
