The Tales of Beedle the Bard
by J.K. Rowling
I wasn't sure what to expect when I cracked open this book. I love the world of Harry Potter but wasn't expecting much. I certainly didn't expect to be spellbound. But it felt like being right there in the HP world again.
I liked the stories a lot, and find it difficult to pick a favorite:
The Wizard and the Hopping Pot
The Fountain of Fair Fortune
The Warlock's Hairy Heart
Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump
The Tale of the Three Brothers
Though if I had to choose, it would be the Fountain of Fair Fortune story. The stories all felt very familiar, entertaining, and magical. I loved all the stories in the collection, and was especially fascinated by the commentary by Albus Dumbledore and footnotes by JKR. It was more than just expanding the world with fun little tales, it was making things more real and analyzing the wizarding culture. I think you can learn a lot about a people by seeing what they teach their children. And so these stories were enlightening for that reason.

And if that's not enough to convince you... just wait until you get to the part about the guy who was caught "fondling his horclumps"!
