Doctor Who: The Nightmare Of Black Island
Mike Tucker
(Audio)
My favorite part of this whole book was the interview with its reader, Anthony Head, at the end. That's not to say it was an awful book; it was very entertaining. it's just not one of my favorite Doctor Who books and the interview is all kinds of awesome.
In the story, Rose & the Doctor stumble into a village filled with monsters, only to find that the monsters are coming to life from their nightmares. This wouldn't be a horrible, unsolvable problem until something the Doctor & Rose have encountered shows up! How do you get kids to stay awake long enough to defeat whoever is behind all this?
It's a good story with a dark, exciting plot. But there was nothing that jumped out and grabbed me as amazing. Nothing jumped out and grabbed me as out of character, either, though. In all, it was a nice ride but nothing incredible and not a lot of deep, thought-provoking moments, which is what I like to be assaulted with when reading Doctor Who. Anthony Head's reading was amazing, though. He did a fantastic job with it.
