Charmed: Kiss of Darkness
by Brandon Alexander

I read this on Do Nothing But Read Day- June 27, 2010.

This is the second Charmed novel but the first one I've ever read. It was short and a really quick read.

I takes place soon after the beginning of the series, so the three sisters (Prue, Piper, and Phoebe) are still very new to their powers and the magical world. That shows as things start going weird and they don't automatically run to the Book of Shadows for help. It's a rather silly premise but an entertaining one. I liked that it took the Power of Three (and more help) to stop the bad guy. And I especially like that even though Prue was controlled and taken over by the evil, she was still able to fight against it. She was the strongest sister, even in the beginning, and it made a lot of sense that she wouldn't just lie there helplessly.

And in a story that has to deal with love and kisses, I definitely liked the subplot with Piper's possible boyfriend. And I liked the fortune teller element as well, showing the various types of magic and offsetting the Power of Three magic.

This was quick and light and entertaining. It didn't rock my world but it was good enough to fit for me and a fair supplement to the series.
