I read this months and months ago, one story at a time. I really should have made comments then because I remember feeling very strongly about them and now I can't quite remember much at all. This is a collection of short stories, some of which I think I liked more than the rest.

Othello- made me think. Stories about twins, where one dies and the other has to cope with that loss, always pull at my heart. And this one has some interesting twists and emotions (and I do love me some angst and hurt/comfort).

Snow White in Summer- was cute. I have a thing for fairy tales as well, so this one made me smile.

The Scent of Midnight- Interesting but sad. And just when I was getting into it and getting to know the characters, it was over. Unfortunate.

The Abyss Pool- I think I liked this last story the most, even if I just about had a heart attack at the ending.

I definitely wasn't expecting such a range of emotions and ending in such a place. I don't think this is one I would re-read, but I'm glad I had the chance to read it once.

So I take it the name of the book is from the board game, not the Shakespeare play?

Neither are a noticeable part of the story, so I suppose it must be a game-like metaphor, with the pieces moving about and all. Either that, or I totally missed the point of the story (which happens sometimes when I have bishies in front of me)
