I read this years ago, but a copy of this just passed through my hands and I thought I'd put my thoughts here.
This is possibly my very favorite Dean Koontz book ever. I absolutely adore Christopher Snow and his friends (Orson, Bobby, and Sasha). Chris has a genetic disorder where he's extremely sensitive to light; therefore, his adventures take place during the night. And what adventures he has! From terrifying creatures stalking and murdering to corruption of the law enforcement... from a conspiracy his mother might have been right in the middle of to transformations. Chris isn't just in the middle of a life or death mystery, he might actually be both the cause and solution.
I actually earread this book, and the reader is an actor who appeared in Angel: the series, a tv show I love. It was strange hearing how different his voice was from the character he played, but he did a good job on the audio version.
