Hellblazer: Good Intentions
by Brian Azzarello and Marcelo Frusin
This... I loved. I knew Constantine a tiny little bit from Gaiman's Book of Magic and a couple appearances here and there. I always thought he was a fantastic character so when my boss offered to lend me a couple volumes, i jumped on the chance.
This was a great volume. I felt like I had to work a little harder to get this (later, when reading other volumes, I realized it was a problem stemming from the fact that I was reading them out of order). The art is amazing--dark and moody and appropriate for the story. There are some great lines and moments, with twists and terror. And the ending is actually pretty satisfying (though I suppose if you have sympathy for some of these creeps, it's a different story). Maybe I liked it more than some might because it was my first real exposure to John's character and I didn't know what to expect, but I certainly enjoyed it.
