This one ended up being as strange as it seems from the back cover (yes, a boy kissing a boy in a bear costume). It seems like an interesting coming out to his family story when Makoto decides to visit his older cousin. And there are some fun themes at play concerning what it's like to grow up and leave your passions behind (and become a boring adult, even if your name did appear in the credits of a movie). And the characters are fun to get to know at first; Toshi's very pregnant friend is unforgettable.
I even liked some of the flashbacks to Toshi's time in high school and film club, where he met friends and discovered things about himself (and about other students). I found myself getting lost a little more than halfway through, however. I think I mixed up two of the characters or totally lost the thread of the plot/situation at hand. Soon it was just kids doing crazy things, kissing, having broken hearts, apparently starring in adult movies? I'm not even sure what was going on in the end, to tell you the truth. I did really like the horror movie-watching scenes. And the cute little bonus stories at the end was adorable... but this copy has the bonus story mistakenly added in twice LOL Bonus bonus story!
