So Yesterday

Hmm. I enjoyed the Uglies series so much that I gave this one by Scott Westerfeld a shot. I definitely liked it--it's a new spin on the world with new vocabulary to absorb. I like that about his worlds. The problem is, this particular world is based on consumerism, which isn't my favorite thing in the world. But it's sort of a neat idea in general, with Innovators who come up with unique ideas and cool-hunters who go out looking for these things in order to sell them to clients.
After Hunter sees a pair of laces that are absolutely perfect, his world is turned upside-down. There's a group of people determined to take down the system, a colleague who has gone missing, and a love interest who's as new to this new world as the reader is.
Hunter's a good character I enjoyed getting to know. It was a fun adventure, with some nice twists and turns, but I'm not sure I'd want to dive any deeper into this world than this book.
