Fun at the Library

I've decided that, since this is my journal for book things, I might as well include library-related things as well. I volunteer at two different local libraries- one right by my house that I used to go to sometimes when I was very young(Kings Park), and another which is a few blocks from the house in which a grew up and was my main library when growing up(Pohick). I love 'em both for very different reasons. And I enjoy volunteering at both because I get to do different things at each.

Saturday mornings are reserved for Pohick Library. This morning I got there earlier than ever before (8:55- I was originally scheduled to work from 10am-12pm but I like the idea of getting as much done as I can before the library opens in the morning, so I try to get there around 9 if I can). The pile of books in front of the overnight the bookdrop was amazingly huge- it took two full bins to hold them all. But I finished in about an hour and a half, which is normal, good timing for me and impressive considering how many there were.

Then I grabbed the pick list (the list of items that need to be pulled off the shelves because people have placed holds on them in our library or at other libraries in the system). I didn't get the whole thing done because I had to leave at noon (I had a BookCrossing meetup at 1) but I did two of three pages. One of the books I had to pull was: Doctor Who: the key to time; a year-by-year record by Peter Haining. I honestly couldn't resist and I grabbed a post-it and scribbled a short note that read just about as follows:

I recently got into Doctor Who (thanks to the 9th and 10th). Then I went back and started watching from the very beginning (1963!). This book looks like it has a great history of the Doctor and the series!

Heehee! I think the journal entries on BookCrossing have really put me in the habbit of communicating with other readers of a book! I just couldn't resist. :-)

EDIT: Please note, I'm totally planning to get this book out of the library and devour it... except I don't want to be spoiled just yet. I'm only up to 1965 right now... I've got quite a few decades to go!

You live near the Kings Park library? That was the library where I had my first-ever library card, way back when I was in preschool. We lived in Kings Park at the time, on Trafalagar Court. Where are you?

Yep! I'm less than a mile from Kings Park. I'll message you with the details since I don't want internet stalkers tracking me down. LOL
